MO, the desktop pet

MO is a desktop pet that has the ability to drive around autonomously or be controlled through a wifi connection. MO was built with brass wire to maximize the view of the internal electrinics, and put on display the complexity of the components.

The Brass Problem.

The decision to design MO completely out of brass wire was made to put the internal electronics of MO on display. Most electronic devices hide the internal components, killing the curiosity of interested individuals. A 1.51 inch transparent OLED display is used to show eye expressions and ultimately increase the playfull, lifelike nature of MO. The ESP32 WROOM hosts a wifi network that can be used to drive MO and change his facial expressions.

Electrical and Machanical Design Considerations

MO is build completely of brass wire. This creates a difficult problem when it comes to wiring. The frame is grounded, and all PCB's are soldered to the frame using ground conections. Logic wiring must float from point to point as to not ground out if they touch the frame.
